Todd Heisler, Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, will present his work at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010 on the campus of Ohio University in Walter Hall, Room 145.
Heisler will talk about his career, latest assignments and his on-going project for The New York Times, One in 8 Million.
The event is free and open to the public.
Heisler has been a staff photographer for The New York Times since 2006. Based in New York City, he covers a variety of assignments, focusing on national news and American life. He previously worked at the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, Copley Chicago Newspapers and Pioneer Press Newspapers in Suburban Chicago.
While a staff photographer for the Rocky Mountain News, Heisler was awarded the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for his images depicting the families of Marines killed in Iraq. The images also received top honors from the World Press Photo Contest, Pictures of the Year International, NPPA’s best of Photojournalism, The American Society of News Editors and at Visa Pour l’image. He was also part of the team that received the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of wildfires in Colorado.
Heisler is a 1994 graduate of the College of Fine Arts at Illinois State University. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Kelly.
