Marci Piltz, a (Ravenna) Record-Courier reporter, died tragically on Thursday afternoon March 19, 2009 following a house fire in Randolph, Ohio.

Marci was a devoted mother, her boys, Alex and Zachery, meant everything to her. Marci was an honest and diligent co-worker, working along side her was always exciting. But to me, she was my friend. We shared memories, jokes, and secrets. We were there for each other through some tough times, and some good times.
I remember the first time we hung out outside of work together at Dominic’s Bar in downtown Kent, it was a wild time but I will let THAT story rest with Marci.
For four years I have taken photos of her boys dressed up in costumes for our Halloween preview, ranging from little monsters to super heroes. I got to meet her father while sitting at an Applebee’s in Cleveland, waiting for Paul Jones to arrive at the airport, both of our dad’s are in Cleveland so we called them to meet us for lunch during our very long wait.
More recently, I got to spend time with her and her youngest son Alex at his school where his kindergarten class was hatching Monarch butterflies. I have enjoyed being Marci’s friend and getting to know her family. I know I speak for myself and the rest of the Record-Courier staff when I say that she will be sorely missed. I will never forget you.
Your friend,

Stephanie Krell.
