ONPA.org has been showing its age for quite some time, but now has new life with much more flexibility. Wish I could say the same.
The old html site received a facelift about ten years ago and time and technology made it not so user friendly anymore.
If you have the ONPA website bookmarked you will need to update that as well. New address is https://onpa.org
We now have a responsive site that works on all devices and without that nasty flash content that IOS devices don’t play so nice with. All of our old photo galleries fell into that category and as time permits they will be updated.
All of the content from the old site has been merged with content from the old ONPA blog and can be found on the ONPA Blog in the menu. That will be the home for future stories such as this. If you are looking for content older than the blog offers, look for newsletters under About ONPA in the menu. We have some other historical information about the organization that we will add to this area. There are some holes in our contest results from the 60’s and 70’s so if you have old newsletters from that time period let us know and we can update that area of the website.
We’ve tried to simplify navigation with a revamped menu bar with some logical drop downs, including one link for rules for all ONPA contests on one page with e-mail links to the respective contest chairmen. The Larry Fullerton Photojournalism Scholarship now has its own heading which hopefully will draw more attention to it for students.
The old site was based on a frames structure and made it difficult to share a URL as the addresses were hidden under the main frame of the site. The new WordPress platform eliminates that problem and features user friendly icons to share content to your social media groups.
The ONPA Instagram and recent Twitter feeds are now part of the site and can be found in the footer and sidebar areas. The current month clip contest winners’ gallery has been brought out to the homepage so you don’t need to click and dig to get to it.
The site is now searchable as well. The search bar in the blog area will limit its search to blog stories. The search bar on the homepage is site wide which includes contest results.
The new site was built from the ground up on WordPress and has all the bells and whistles I could teach myself in a short amount of time. As we settle in I’m sure there will be some tweaking. As with any new site I’m sure there will be some technical issues so if you come across broken links or any other problems or suggestions please let us know.
