This is your sixth annual notice that Kyle Robertson from The Columbus Dispatch is the ONPA Clip Photographer of the Year. His 2020 title is his sixth consecutive and seventh overall.
Robertson had 47 wins in 2020, placing in all eight catagories over the course of the year. Ten of his wins were stories and nine in the portrait catagory. Fourteen of his wins were first place selections. His 1794 points shattered his previous best in 2016 by 230 points.
As has been the case lately the only drama was who would round out the top three. This year the honors went to Jeremy Wadsworth from The Blade, who placed second for the third time in four years. Wadsworth placed third in 2018. The new kid on the block in third place was Jeff Lange from the Akron Beacon Journal who jumped 11 places from the previous year.
The clip contest has been dominated by photographers from the Columbus Dispatch in recent years, but in 2020 The Blade, had three photographers, Jeremy Wadsworth, Rebecca Benson and Kurt Steiss in the final top ten standings.
