If you want to see the works of Eric Albrecht you’ll need to start following him on Instagram if you haven’t already. Albrecht retired from The Columbus Dispatch on December 1 where he has worked the past 36 years.
If you cross paths with someone who knows Eric they won’t tell you he was an award winning photographer. You will hear what a great person he is and how he could tell a great story equally as good as he did with a camera.
Co-worker Courtney Hergesheimer produced a video as Eric talks about working as a photojournalist. When you listen you will know why he connected with this subjects so well.
Eric has photographed his share of presidents, CEOs and other notable figures in life, but it was the way he could connect with the family on Country Road 24 that brought his work to an art form. He worked in the big city, but never lost that down home way of life from the Times Reporter in New Philadelphia where he won the first of his five ONPA Photographer of the Year awards in 1983.
He added four more POYs at The Dispatch along the way, with two clip POYs. Eric finished in the top ten standings from the monthly clip contest 30 out of the past 35 years.
Hopefully he will continue to share his talents as he pedals his bike and enjoys the great outdoors with his wife Brooke and trusty sidekick Thor.
