The team of photographer Jeff Ritter and reporter Lindsey Seavert from WBNS-TV in Columbus were named Grand Award winners in the 75th annual National Headliner Awards, sponsored by The Press Club of Atlantic City, N.J. on Friday.
Their entry, “Lima Company: A Portrait of Service” was the first place winner in the feature, sports or human interest story category and was chosen as the Grand Award for Television entries from all categories. The Grand Award comes with a $1,500 prize.
The judges said the story depicted soldiers from one of the bloodiest battles of the Iraq War – immortalized on canvas. A moving story of the soldiers, their families, and the artist who preserved their legacy.”
The story was selected as Best of Show in the annual ONPA Television Contest this year. It is a must see piece of work. A great story, great photography and great writing by Seavert.
In the Print Division for Daily Newspapers, Andrea Levy of The Plain Dealer placed first for illustrative graphics for the sixth consecutive year.
