Cleveland-based editorial and fine art photographer Greg Ruffing was one of 25 photographers from across the country, represented by Redux Pictures, who contributed to “American Youth”, a 240-page book that looks at the lives of the newest generation of 18 – 24 year olds.
The project and images document a segment of the population most overlooked by newspapers. There seems to a an unwritten rule that you need to by unhealthy, under six or over sixty or have a dog to be worthy of appearing in a daily newspaper. The work by the photographers on this project prove there are images and stories worth pursuing not covered by the unwritten rule.
An “American Youth” book launch and exhibition will be held this Friday, June 5, from 6-9pm at the Low Life Gallery located at 16001 Waterloo Road in Cleveland. The show will include selected images and outtakes from Ruffing’s contributions to the project. Ruffing will also have copies of the book on hand for sale. As they say in the ONPA hospitality suite, refreshments will be served.
Join the party, Ruffing’s images and the atmosphere will be a welcome relief from your daily dose of news.
