Melvin Murry died in 2016 after crashing during a police chase. Dontez O'Neal was shot and killed by Cincinnati Police in 2012. The Cincinnati Anti-Police Brutality Coalition is fighting to reopen cases of people who have been killed by police.

The island of Anegada sits at sea level, so it cannot be seen from the other islands in the territory. However, it was heavily impacted by hurricane Irma in 2017 and many of its inhabitants are still rebuilding.
