The type of cancer, Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, was considered rare. Cam and her family were told the cancer was aggressive, very difficult to beat and it would take a lot of treatment. During treatment, Cam was looked at as "a symbol of strength and encouragement." Her mom, Aimee, said, "If Camryn had her hair, you wouldn’t look at her and know she is sick." After nine months of grueling treatment, Cam reached remission.Cam, center, comes together with her teammates during a volleyball game against Margaretta on Sept. 6, 2018. Less than two months later Cam found out she had cancer.

Cam entered remission but continued with maintenance chemotherapy, which was in the form of a daily pill. “I’m looking forward to getting my life back to how it was before and getting to be ‘normal’ again,” Cam said.
