Their biological mom struggles with drug addiction.
Third Place, Feature - Jessica Phelps / Newark Advocate, “Barn Basketball”Brothers Arthur and Bryce Hollenback play basketball in the barn on their family farm in Utica, Ohio. The brothers love the freedom that comes with being able to play outside and create their own adventures. Their parents love the sense of responsibility and independence they are learning.
Award of Excellence, Feature - Fred Squillante / The Columbus Dispatch, “Hungary Soldier”Brad Jarard of Cincinnati eats what he calls a “soldier’s meal” of bread and cheese at a Revolutionary War re-enactment held at the Everal Barn and Homestead in Westerville. Jarard is a “member” of the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment. The re-enactment was put on by the Brigade of the American Revolution and depicted the lives of soldiers during the American war for independence.
Award of Excellence, Feature - Joshua A. Bickel / The Columbus Dispatch, “The Corrigan House”Tracy Corrigan (left) weeps as an excavator tears down her house along Morse Road on August 23, 2019 in Jersey Township. Corrigan and her husband, Scott, bought their home in the 1980s and raised their five children there. Recently, the property was annexed into nearby New Albany from Jersey Township, and the Corrigan's sold their home to the New Albany Company to make way for development. Nearby, Facebook, Google and Amazon have all built facilities in New Albany International Business Park.
