The festival featured horse rides from the Toledo Horsemen Club, a number of sports lessons, the opening of Roosevelt Pool, and a popular bike give-away.
Third Place, Feature - Jessica Phelps / Newark Advocate, "Trampoline Fun"Daelesha Haile sneaks her head through a hole in the trampoline in her backyard while her sisters Daejahnae and Diamond, brother Dayvon and friend Samantha Elliot all jump around. The Haile children recently moved to Newark, Ohio from Detroit because their father believed there would be more opportunity and a quieter, safer life for them.
Award of Excellence, Feature - Lisa DeJong / The Plain Dealer, "Slurpy Kiss"Domonique Yatsko, 10, of Hinckley, gets a slurpy kiss from "Cool Whip" during the Medina County Fair. Yatsko says the two are close. "He moos for me when I walk away," she said. Yatsko, a member of the Spunky Spurs 4-H Club, competed with her 435-pound steer in the showmanship market class category.
