Her grandson, Marcus Daniels, was shot ten times and killed outside her home. His killer has not been caught. "They don't understand what they took from me,'' said Daniels. She has been attending homicide monthly support meetings hosted by the victims advocates office in the Cincinnati Police Department.
Third Place, Portrait Personality - Meg Vogel / The Cincinnati Enquirer“No one is ever the perfect victim.” Jennifer Schoewe, was 20 years old, a junior at the University of Cincinnati, when she told police and UC Title IX investigators she was raped by another student after a party. She filed a complaint with the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights in November 2015, which opened a federal investigation into how UC handles reports of sexual assault.

Kanneh is an immigrant from Liberia where as a child he was forced into being a soldier during the Second Liberian Civil War. "I fought as a child soldier from 1999 to 2003 and I remember with in the five years it was really difficult," Kanneh said, "I saw a lot of things a normal person shouldn't see."
