The annual ONPA still image contest judging and seminar is this weekend at Ohio University’s Schoonover Center: 20 East Union Street in Athens. Judging will begin Friday afternoon around 4pm and continue all day Saturday. All the events are FREE.
We’ll have portfolio reviews, speakers, vendors and awards from Canon, Sony and ThinkTank for our top winners. We will also announce the winners of the Fullerton Scholarship, our annual Television contest and our annual Online contest, including our Multimedia POY (new this year).
We hope you can join us for a weekend of camaraderie, inspiration and celebration of photojournalism in Ohio!
We are thrilled to announce that Indianapolis Star photojournalist Robert Scheer, Evansville Courier and Press photojournalist Denny Simmons and Getty Images sports photojournalist Maddie Meyer will be joining us for the weekend. They’ll be judging images on Friday and Saturday, and the three will share their work as well during the seminar.
We will also have two fantastic Ohio photojournalists sharing their work and insights: Jessica Phelps, a photojournalist at the Newark Advocate who was recently named Pictures of the Year International’s Newspaper Photographer of the Year and Ty Wright, a longtime freelancer for many national publications and current staff photographer at Columbus College of Art & Design – CCAD.
