Ali Ghanbari’s next assignment is retirement after an extraordinary career as a photojournalist in Ohio.

Ali Ghanbari, the most decorated Ohio news photographer, is retiring from WJW-TV in Cleveland where he has worked since 1994.

The list of awards won by Ghanbari over the years is mind boggling. He is a seven-time Ohio SPJ Best Photographer, seven-time Ohio AP Best Photographer, and two-time regional NPPA Photographer of the Year as well as 28 local Emmys.

Ghanbari is a 12-time ONPA Photographer of the Year and won the ONPA Quarterly Clip Contest title twice. In the ONPA year-end contest Ghanbari has chalked top over 135 wins over the years, and there were many years when he didn’t enter.

Recently Ghanbari was the recipient of the Silver Circle Award by that NATAS Lower Great Lakes Chapter Board of Governors. The Silver Circle recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to television for twenty-five years or more.

To say that he will be missed is a huge understatement. The ONPA board and membership wish you well in retirement.
