The dogs days of summer seemed to have finally arrived, coincidently about the same time Tiger Woods and the rest of the golfers descended upon Northeast Ohio last week. Hard to adjust to that kind of heat and humidity with a 400mm lens on your shoulder.
We’ve been out of touch much of the last two weeks as I was dealing with the sale of my home and the purchase of another. The events of the sale didn’t leave much time for blogging so we will play catch up on a few headlines.
ONPA member Shirley Ware put all her years of experience working at the Medina County Gazette to good use and has launched a new Website, MedinaCountyLife.com. She is sharing the site with five other bloggers so the content is varied. There are quite a few Ohio shooters who passed through Medina over the years as interns who might want to take a look and catch up on life in the not so fast lane of Medina County.
Columbus based Associated Press photo editor Kiichiro Sato will be moving to Chicago to work on the AP regional desk where he will still have some Ohio responsibilities. No word on whether Columbus will have full-time staff coverage or if staffer will come in for planned events and rely on stringers day-to-day. I posed the question to Ki via e-mail, but haven’t gotten a response yet.
Cox Ohio has extended buyouts to retirement eligible employees at its properties. No word on just how many they are hoping will sign up. Employees has until Sept 14 to apply. Cox Ohio publishes daily papers in Dayton, Springfield, Hamilton and Middletown.
Got word late Wednesday that Springfield News-Sun photographer Bill Lackey has a photo in the Leading Off section of this week’s Sports Illustrated, which hit mailboxes today and should be available on the newsstand Friday.
