General News - 2nd placeDelores Stephens, 15, a sophomore at Bedford High School, carries flags to be placed next to veterans' gravestones inside the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford. About 25 high school students helped place American Flags in front of veterans' gravestones for Memorial Day. For more than 50 years, Bedford High School students have helped place flags according to Mike Garvin, 65, of the VFW 1082. He has been organizing the flag placement since 1985. Garvin says that they will have nearly 950 flags placed on veterans' graves by Monday's Memorial Day service at Bedford Cemetery. Some gravestones date back to The War of 1812.
