Spot News - 1st place - The inside of the broken "Tree of Everlasting Life" can be seen partially hollowed out by insects in historic Zoar. The tree, planted by Zoarites, was partially felled by intense winds. Spot News - 2nd place - The Springfield Fire Division battled a fire in a two story vacant house at 1301 Selma Road. According to fire officials, they received a call of heavy smoke coming from the house. When they arrived they found flames venting from the north side on the first floor where the bulk of the fire was contained. The house was vacant and had no electricity running to it. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Box 27 was also called to the scene to assist the fire department. (Bill Lackey / Springfield News-Sun)
